Hazards, Catastrophes, and Disasters

When a natural event happens and it is a harm to human life, it is called a hazard. There is no place that is considered "hazard free".
A disaster is when a hazardous event occurs but only for a shot time span. Also for it to be considered as a disaster it needs to have at least one of these things:
- Leave more than ten people dead.
- Leave more than one hundred people affected by it.
- Have a State of Emergency declared.
- Have the people request international assistance.
A catastrophe is when an enormous disaster takes many years for the damage to be recovered and uses lost of money.
Sweden

I have never actually visited Sweden, but, like any country, there are natural hazards in Sweden. am very excited to study Sweden and learn more about its science.
One scientist I am inspired by is Hans Lippershey for inventing the telescope because I have
always loved to look at the stars and just see the huge sky filled with twinkling lights.
I loved your scientist pick and great first blog post!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to learning a lot more about your country's natural hazards!
