Sweden's Coatal Erosion
Sweden does experience coastal erosion. Most of the sand beaches are located in the southern Sweden and around the islands of Sweden, however the majority of the of the coastal erosion happens along of the southern part (Scania). In Scania, the sea level rise vares between 0-1 mm per year. "Around 150,000 buildings are located in an area susceptible to erosion in the case of a rise in sea level of 88 cm. The value of these properties amounts to approximately SEK 220 billion." (climatechangepost.com)

Hi Emily, I really enjoyed reading your post. I was amazed by how many houses are in the range of being hurt by the erosion. I couldn't find any specific mitigation effects my country's is doing, but they have been monitoring it since the 70's.
ReplyDeleteHi Emily,
ReplyDeleteIt's always interesting to see the effects of climate change. I like the visual examples you provided in your post. Good job.
Hi Emily,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your input on Sweden's coastal erosion. Was that the Black Sea that borders Sweden? I generally see Sweden as a calm and self sustaining country, but why would they not have mitigation efforts to control the erosion? Maybe the erosion is not as bad due not having such aggressive waves crashing on the shore. Please view my blog on Russia and comment!
